Here are 3 major things we do at RealFit that sets your home workout routine apart from other online programs (in addition to THE MAJOR FUN FACTOR!)

 1. WHAT YOU ARE DOING within your workout sessions matter. 

Where home workout routines go wrong:
When form is not at the forefront of the routine. In other words..
HOW you are moving and WHAT are you are doing WITHIN your workout can make you or break you.

Clients will tell me “I kickbox 3-4 days a week & I’m not seeing results anymore”

Solution:
Fine tune what you do WITHIN your workout. DO NOT add another day until you improve the execution of each rep within the frequency of sessions you’ve already got in your schedule.
  • Quality over quantity every single time, so less is actually more.
  • The definition is in the details and one of my promises to you when you become a RealFit member is that you will get a more effective workout from home than you will going to an actual gym and participating in live class, or following any other online workout program out there.
  • As your coach, I don’t count reps. We use an interval timer so I can focus on teaching you how to perform each rep in the best, most quality way possible - that is more far important than counting many you are doing. 12 sloppy reps vs 12 mindful reps. BIG difference in keeping you injury free AND boosting metabolism

2. DIVERSITY, VARIETY & FUN is the spice of life & what spices up the body.

Where home workout routines go wrong:
When there are 3 standard workout routines performed over & over & over because it’s familiar and easy to follow (might even have it memorized)

HOWEVER, the body adapts and after 12 weeks of the exact same routine, you no longer experience improvement AND you risk over-working certain joints & muscles while neglecting others, and that leads to stiffness and difficulty with range of motion through the shoulders, hips & knees, and unfortunately, injury while doing something silly like picking a sock up off the floor.

Solution:
The body moves in a variety of ways. There’s a biomechanist (Katy Bowman) I follow that calls these “movement nutrients.” Similar to how we need to eat a variety of nutrients, we must move our bodies in all the ways in which they can move.
  • In other words, it’s VITAL to change up the patterns so that you keep your joints healthy, stable & strong for as long as humanly possible.
  • Mix up your workout routines with different total body strength challenges, HIIT workouts, yoga sequences, kickboxing drills, TRX moves, walking, hiking, swimming, etc.
  • Vary it week to week, AND have fun with it!

Which brings me to...

3. WORKOUTS ARE BASED ON WHAT YOU ENJOY, not what you “should” do. Your metabolism responds best to workouts that make you happy.

Where home workout routines go wrong:
Running, lifting, cycling, etc because “it’s good for you” but you actually dread it.

It’s important to note that your body hears everything your mind says.

If there is negative energy behind “shoulding” on yourself, it will be extremely difficult for you to receive the desired [lean & healthy body] outcome from that activity.

Solution:
RealFit believes every person deserves to take their mental, emotional AND physical health into consideration when deciding how to put their workout routine together for maximal & long-term results.
  • What you get from yoga, is different than lifting, is different than spinning, is different than kickboxing.
  • At RealFit , we encourage you to honor how you feel day to day. There are days that you’ve got tons of energy & are ready to GO! & other days, not so much.
  • To avoid burnout, and to love your body and your life for as long as possible, the key ingredient is to honor thyself.
  • To be willing to try new workouts for different stages in your life and to be willing to let old ways of working out go.
  • Plyometric training may feel awesome in your 20's & 30's, and then in your 40's & 50's you may still want to push yourself hard, but do so without the jumping. Accepting the demands of different chapters in your life keep your mind and body VERY happy and continuing to improve.
  • Words to live by: "It works until it doesn’t work" ...be willing to acknowledge it & do something different, rather than do the same thing MORE or HARDER.

Yes, you are welcome to join & share the log in with your family. 

However, keep in mind that your log in will only have 1 profile, so when you comment under a video, it will be using the main profile from whomever originally registered.

Most of the workouts in the All Access area are only available for streaming because of the music licensing agreement that we have in place so that we can use original artists.

However, there are a handful of workouts for traveling that you can download to any device and use without nee for an internet connection.

Every category is broken into 2 sections:
30 minutes or less
30-60 minutes

This way, you can easily find what fits your schedule and/or energy level that day (side note: just because they are shorter DOES NOT mean they are easier, but Dana Lee always builds in modifications AND advanced moves with every workout)

Workout requests can be made in our private facebook group, in a comment under a video OR by submitting a "contact us" on the homepage of RealFit.tv

Who's Dana Lee?

 Dana Lee began her fitness career in 1994 when step was all the rage & group fitness was on the rise. After the gym industry pissed her off, she decided to open Evolution Health & Fitness in 2008; a boutique fitness studio, the first of its kind in New Jersey. If you remember correctly, 2008 was the year the market tanked, and as they say, necessity is the mother of invention. RealFit.tv - an online version of kick-ass studio workouts for at-home exercisers - was born shortly thereafter. In fact, you may know Dana Lee from YouTube where it all began back in 2012. Altho she no longer posts new workouts on YouTube, you can get an ever BETTER workout experience with awesome music, dynamic & creative content, & support all on RealFit.tv. ðŸ’ª

When Dana Lee is not filming workouts for the site, she is either riding motorcycles with her husband Steve, practicing handstands in yoga, or hanging with a good friend having great conversation over a delicious cuppa coffee ☕️#havecoffeewilltravel #realfitonthego
